Happy New year! Good news to ring in New Year

The final week of the 2010s decade brought good news to the Miss-Lou that will carry us over and get us started off right in the New Year of 2020.
So, before you venture out to ring in the New Year in whatever fashion you choose tonight, ponder these good news items from the past week.
* Santa made the spirits bright with the annual Santa Claus parade last week, helping hundreds of children have a Merry Christmas by distributing toys to those who may not have otherwise received any presents.
Santa’s mission was facilitated by the generous support of the community through the Christmas Tree Fund and the Santa Claus committee.
Thanks, Santa!
* Friends of the Margaret Martin Performing Arts Center announced Christmas Eve that an architect’s report for the building’s rehabilitation was recently completed.
The organization formed to help renovate the historic former school on Homochitto Street said they hope the document will help in securing funding from state legislators.
Once funding is secured the plan is to turn the facility in to a first-rate community center for the performing arts.
That is quite a Christmas present indeed.
* The Miss-Lou will again experience a beautiful fireworks show tonight to ring in not only the New Year but also the new decade over the Mississippi River, thanks to the Vidalia Beautification Committee who sponsors and funds the project through donations each year.
The show starts approximately 6:30 tonight and can be viewed from both sides of the river.
Happy New Year and keep your eyes open for good news.
