Natchez — Funeral services for Harvey Earl Woods, 64, of Lafayette, La., formerly of Natchez, who died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, in Lafayette will be at 11 a.m. Friday  at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin White officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and will continue on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the church.

Mr. Woods was born Jan. 13, 1955 in Natchez, the son of Moses Woods and Rosetta Jones Woods. 

He was a graduate of Kansas State University and served in the U.S. Army as a flightline mechanic.  Harvey enjoyed shooting pool, fishing, and loved music.                        

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Survivors include  his wife, Carolyn Blanton Woods; son, Harvey Woods, Jr.; daughters: Denise Seifert and husband Joern and Apollonia Woods; brothers, Moses Woods and wife Jackie, Steve Woods and wife Evelyn, Carmen Woods and Raymond Woods; sisters, Rosie Varnado and husband Rynold and Gloria Miller; grandchildren, Mira and Lias Seifert; special nephews, Steven Martel Woods, Timothy Woods, Xavier Woods; uncle, Albert Jones and wife Juanita, sisters-in-law, Debra and Lisa Woods and a host of other relatives and friends.
