WATERPROOF— Services for Mary Lee Favorite, 83, of Waterproof, who died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019, at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center in Mansfield, Texas, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church in Waterproof, with the Rev. Harry Jessie Jr. of Dallas officiating.

Burial will follow at Good Samaritan Cemetery, in Waterproof, under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Favorite was born Jan. 10, 1936, in Waterproof, the daughter of Elijah and Alice Wiley Bailey.

She was a graduate of Dillard University and taught school for a number of years in the Tensas Parish School System. He was a member of the Myrtle Grove Baptist Church and the Crescent Chapter Order of Easter Star, PHA No. 142, of Waterproof.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest Favorite Sr.; and one son, Rickie G. Favorite.

Survivors include four children, Mechelle Favorite and wife, Tonetia, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Ernest Favorite Jr. and wife, Janet, of Marrero, Louisiana, Vickie Favorite of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Allison F. Stacker and husband, Gerald, of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Elijah Bailey Jr. of Waterproof; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three aunts, Fannie McTear of Marrero, Dorothy Spain of Brooklyn, New York, and Constance Carroll of Avondale, Louisiana; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
