VIDALIA— Services for Franklin D. “Shoates” Banks, 74, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church in Vidalia, with the Rev. Louis Banks officiating.

Burial will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Banks was born March 8, 1945, in Vidalia, the son of Jeffrey and Patsy Cubie Banks.

He was a member of Union Baptist Church and a retired correctional officer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings; twin sister, Elnora Banks, Jeffrey Banks Jr., Ernie Banks Sr., Leo Banks, Jessie Banks Jr., Idellia Banks and Erma Banks.

Survivors include his lifelong companion, Betty J. Wilson; four children, Sylvester Wilson Jr. and wife, Lena, Troy Wilson and wife, Dambrell, Catherine P. Latham and husband, Paul, all of Natchez, and LaKisha Holloway-Thomas and husband, Jabbar, of Atlanta; seven siblings, Renard Banks Sr. and wife, Sylvia, of Natchez, Danny Lyles and wife, Denise, Helen Lyles and husband, Jonathan, all of Dallas, Betty Sigust, Marjorie Williams and husband, Charlee; Sharon Banks and husband, Rolando White, Barbara Lyles White and husband, James, all of Vidalia; nine grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
