FERRIDAY— Services for Velma Jean King, 77, of Monterey, who died Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, in Monterey, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Young’s Funeral Home Ferriday Chapel with the Rev. Tony Ganey officiating.
Burial will follow at Oswalt Cemetery in Lismore, Louisiana, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Velma was born Feb. 22, 1942, in Lismore, the daughter of John King and Verna Smith Givens.
She was preceded in death by one son, Melvin Knapp Jr; her parents; one sister, Joanne Lipsey; one brother, James King; and one great-grandson, Beau Russell.
Survivors includetwo daughters, Jacqueline Knapp Mallory and husband, Doug, and Deanna Knapp; one son, Randy Knapp and wife, Lisa; one brother, Daniel King and wife, Judy;six grandchildren, Leighton Burley, Lauren Burrill Poole and husband, Jesse, Amber Knapp Russell and husband, Jason, Randi Knapp, Hunter Knapp and wife, Lacee, and Carli Galbreath and husband, Scotty;and nine great- grandchildren, Madison and Braden Poole, Kylar and Brennan Burley, Brooklyn Russell, Rhett Arnold, Sophie and River Knapp, and Scottlyn Galbreath.
Pallbearers will be Leighton Burley, Jesse Poole, Jason Russell, Scotty Galbreath, Will Burley and Ryan Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Knapp, Braden Poole, Brennan Burley and Rhett Arnold.
