WILDSVILLE, Louisiana — Services for Shirley Crooks Deville, 84, of Vidalia, who died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, in Jonesville after a lengthy illness, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evangeline Baptist Church in Wildsville, with the Rev. Brad Crooks and the Rev. Charles Bobo officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Deville was born June 27, 1935, in LaSalle Parish, the daughter of Frank and Martha Crooks.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Vidalia. Shirley enjoyed volunteering as a “Pink Lady” at Jefferson Davis Memorial Hospital, cooking, bowling and shopping every Saturday at the Mall. Most of all, she loved her family, her children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Deville; her parents; five sisters, Bessie Jernigan, Elsie Clark, Hilda Watson, Allie Ware and Ora Brown; and one stepbrother, N.D. Crooks.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Deville and wife, Kay, of Madisonville, Louisiana, and Ricky Deville and wife, Patricia, of Ferriday; one daughter, Lisa Crutchfield and husband, Curtis, of Vidalia; two grandchildren, Nikki Reyes and husband, Levi, of Monroe, Louisiana, and their children, Bailey and Brooklyn, and Curt Crutchfield of West Monroe, Louisiana; two brothers, Gerald Crooks and Ellis Crooks; two sisters, Lillie Windham and Audrey Mize; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Curt Crutchfield, Levi Reyes, Mark Windham, Jimmy Jernigan, Malcolm Dunaway and Brent Brazell.
The family extends a special thanks to the staff at The Columns of Jonesville.
