NATCHEZ— Services for Eldridge Eugene “Gene” Dauphin Jr., will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at the Natchez National Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service at 12 p.m. at Jefferson Street United Methodist Church.
Mr. Dauphin was born June 7, 1930, in Ida, Louisiana, the son of Eldridge Eugene Dauphin and Thelma Wilson Dauphin.
He was a graduate of McCloud, Texas High School, attended Louisiana Technical College (Louisiana Tech University) and the University of Houston. He was a Korean Conflict veteran, where he served as a U.S. Army Paratrooper, 82ndAirborne Division, making three jumps in Korea.
During his lifelong-career as a petroleum engineer, he drilled and produced wells in the Southeastern and Southwestern Regions of the United States and areas of North Dakota.
Gene was a partner and later president of Secan Oil Company and Colt Energy. He was a board member of the Confederate Oil Invitational Golf and Tennis Tournament and a lifetime member of IPAA.
Gene was the last of the Wilcox Oil Producer Legends.
He was a very devoted, caring father — always putting his four children first. Gene spent many years as “Roadmaster” and head mechanic for their motocross racing team that traveled to competitions all over the country.
He was a member of the Andrew Jackson Lodge, a member of the Grand Lodge of Mississippi F&AM Harmony Lodge No. 1, a Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner. Gene was a member of Grace Methodist United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Louie Dauphin; one daughter, Holly Dauphin Fields; and two sisters, Mary Dauphin Brooks and Jerry Ann Noah.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Bryant Dauphin; two sons, Ben Dauphin and wife, Barbara, and Jason Dauphin; two sisters, Latricia Kennedy and Mona Haltom; and a number of nieces and nephews.
