NATCHEZ— Services for Gratie Mae “Madea” “Lit Baby” Knight, 79, of Natchez, who died Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, at Glenburney Nursing Home in Natchez, will b 11 a.m. Sunday at St. Matthew Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Jenkins officiating.
Burial will follow at Pernell Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home’s Natchez chapel and from 10 a.m. until service time Sunday at the church.
Mrs. Knight was born May 2, 1940, in Franklin County, the daughter of Sim Pernell and Minnie Haynes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Moses Knight; one granddaughter, Audrey Pernell; and eight siblings, Susianna Thomas, Annie Lee Pernell, Elree Pernell, Sim Pernell Jr., Georgia Pernell, Florence Pernell, Sarah Lee Pernell and Willie James Pernell.
Survivors include four children, Curtis Pernell and wife, Patricia, Ernest Pernell, Archie Knight and Joseph Knight Sr.; 10 grandchildren, Alicia Blanton, Rhoshawanda Harvin, Joseph Knight Jr., Joshua Knight, Curshala Pernell, Curtis Bradley, Keyiera Blanton, Nameka Walker, Alisha Pernell and Brittany Goldsberry; 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Minnie Nelson; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
