Rotary Chili Cook-off great fun, good cause

The Natchez Rotary Chili Cook-Off was a great success Saturday.

Hundreds of people took advantage of the beautiful, blue-sky day with crisp fall temperatures on the Natchez bluff, to mix and mingle and sample plenty of good chili.

Hundreds of people of all ages from toddlers to senior citizens found their way to the event and bought some 600 chili-sampling kits for $5 apiece.

People were dressed in chefs’ costumes, some dressed as Elvis, others wore funny wigs. It was a fun event to be sure.

The fun and good food, however, were just the benefits of a lot of hard work on the part of a lot of good people in support of a good cause.

Members of the Natchez Rotary Club worked for weeks to make the event run as smoothly as possible, and the weather was more than cooperative.

The large turnout and fun were all for the benefit of the Natchez Children’s Advocacy Center, which serves children in Adams, Jefferson, Franklin, Wilkinson and Claiborne counties who have been victimized by physical, emotional or sexual abuse or neglect, or who have been traumatized by witnessing a violent crime.

Thank you to the Natchez Rotary Club for putting on such a great event. Thank you to the Natchez Children’s Advocacy Center for the great work of the organization, and thanks to all of the people who came out to support and enjoy the event on Saturday.

Your combined efforts resulted in a great success in more ways than just having a good time on a beautiful day.
