Deserving of praise: Voters, veterans, volunteers

A week ago today, voters went to the polls to determine who will lead Adams County for the next four years.
This weekend Concordia Parish voters will do the same for their communities.
The act of voting is a right and privilege many people around the world do not have.
It is fitting that between the two election days this year, residents on both sides of the river took Monday to recognize the men and women who have sacrificed much for the many freedoms we enjoy, including the right to vote. This weekend, community members showed their appreciation to veterans with recognition ceremonies. May we be reminded of their service not just on Veterans Day but on every day we enjoy living and working in this great country.
In other good news from the past week:
*The annual Angels on the Bluff tour of the Natchez City Cemetery celebrated its 20th year with another year of captivating stories from the men and women who are buried at the cemetery. Started in 2000, the tour became an instant success. Each year when tickets go sale in August, they are quickly snatched up by locals and tourists who enjoy performances from the all-volunteer cast.
Congratulations to Angels on the Bluff. We look forward to many more trips around the cemetery.
*Adams County Christian School junior Lane Rehms surprised many of his classmates when he tried out for the lead role in the school’s upcoming production of “Alladin.” He, too, was a bit surprised when he got the part and is now getting ready for his April debut. If his many leadership roles in Key Club, Youth Leadership Natchez and on the football team are an indication, we know he will do well.
May we always be on the lookout for good new in our community.
