NATCHEZ — Plans for a new ice cream shop in downtown Natchez have been scrapped.
Darrell Day said he and and his wife Lisa will move at the end of the year to be closer to Lisa’s mother, who has been declining in health.
The couple had planned to open a hand-crafted ice cream parlor later this year.
The decision to move has forced the Days to end those plans.
“It is a good example of how your plan and God’s plan do not always match,” Day said.
Darrell Day is also the music minister of the First Presbyterian Church in Natchez and is the director of the local community chorale.
In May, the couple closed on the building at 403 Main Street and were working with a local contractor to renovate the building. Part of the renovation included restoring the building’s exterior to its original 1860s appearance.
The couple had also planned to turn the second floor of the building into their residence when the building was complete.
Day said the building has already been put on the market to sell and that he has already shown the building to people who have expressed interest in buying the building.
