VIDALIA— Memorial services for Cody McClung, 22, of Woodville, formerly of Vidalia, who died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019, in Ferriday, will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Cornerstone Church with the Rev. Danny Reed officiating.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.
Cody was born Dec. 1, 1996, in Natchez.
He was a 2013 graduate of the Youth Challenge Program and was employed by Angola Prison where he completed his training as a correctional officer and was a member of the tactical unit. He was also awarded employee of the month during his first few months at Angola. He also worked on tugboats on the Mississippi River. At the time of his death, he worked for Energy Drilling Company.
He enjoyed fishing with this “Uncle Joey,” hunting and riding Ryland and Lylah on the four-wheeler. He enjoyed playing baseball with Ryland and his long conversations with Myles that only they could understand. He was a wonderful father to all of his children.
He enjoyed playing guitars, riding motorcycles and anything that went fast. His greatest passion was body building and physical fitness. Cody also loved beating his mom at pool. Cody enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved life and made an impression on everyone he met, especially with his famous hugs and beautiful smile. His presence brought joy to those who knew him.
He will be missed but never forgotten.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Hunter McClung; grandparents, Fred and Katie McClung; one cousin, John Casey; and one uncle, Alan Ashley.
Survivors include his mother, Valerie Sanders and husband, Mark; two sons, Ryland McClung and Myles McClung; one daughter, Lylah Vestal; fiancée, Shelby Strong; two brothers, Avery Martin and Matthew Sanders; one sister, Lindsey Sanders; one niece, Trinity Bunch; seven aunts and uncles, Shannon and Joey Ashley, Kim and Casey Ashley, Ronnie and Carolyn Ashley and Bernadette Ashley White; 10 cousins, Shelby, Samantha, Taylor, Michaela, Shannon, Chelsea, Cameron, Ryan, Kirsty and Lee; and a number of other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Avery Martin, Aaron Forbess, Josh Wilson, Matt Sanders, Andy Tipton, Dakota Nations, Ryan Hatfield, Lee White, Simon Skovgard, Garret Floyd, Mark Cannon and Nathan Nations.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dixie Renegades Natchez Chapter.
