The Rotary Club of Natchez celebrated its 100th birthday Wednesday by giving back to its home city.
At the club’s regular meeting on Wednesday, members unveiled two telescopes the club is donating to the City of Natchez.
The telescopes will be affixed to points on the Natchez bluff so visitors can peer through them to get a better view of the mighty Mississippi River.
It isn’t surprising that the club, whose motto is Service Above Self, would make such a selfless gesture in celebration of the club’s 100th anniversary.
For 100 years, the Rotary Club of Natchez has provided that high level of service to the community, helping raise money for worthy community causes and helping fund scholarships and other educational programs in the community.
On the club’s 50th anniversary, members donated the fountain that now sits on the very bluff where the new telescopes will be installed.
Thank you, Rotary Club of Natchez for the selfless gifts to the Natchez community over the years and congratulations on the 100 years of service.
We thank the club and its members for the commitment to service above self and the dedication to making the world a better place one community at a time around the globe.
We wish the Rotary Club of Natchez another 100 successful years.
