FERRIDAY— Services for Vera “Elaine” Ashley, 84, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Promise Hospital, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Young’s Funeral Home Ferriday Chapel with the Rev. Larry Wagner and the Rev. Russell Wagner officiating.
Burial will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery in Olla, Louisiana, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 1 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ashley was born Jan. 29, 1935, in Monroe, Louisiana, the daughter of Frank Richard and Lessie Bass Richard.
She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and loved to be with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Benjamin Ashley; her parents; four sisters, Betty Morrow, Esterline Smith, Dorothy Fox and Bernice Franklin; three brothers, James Richard, Shelby Richard and Billy Richard; and one great-grandson, Jackie Ashley III.
Survivors include four sons, Jackie Ray Ashley, Frank Nelson Ashley, George Dustin Ashley and Matthew James Ashley; one daughter, Sandra Lynn Peck; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
