FERRIDAY— Services for Evelyn Richardson Newsom, 67, of Sicily Island, who died Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Promise Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana, after a lengthy illness and hospital stay, will be noon Sunday at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with Bill Harrell officiating.
Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Newsom was born Dec. 1, 1951, in Ferriday, the daughter of Alex P. Ferrell and Bessie Rae Ferrell.
She was a homemaker and was known in the community for her knowledge of repairing and rebuilding computers.
Newsom was preceded in death by her husband, James Newsom; her parents; an infant son, Quentin Bain Harper; one brother, Lyle Richardson; and one sister, Leslie Whitlow.
Survivors include three sons, Jackie Harper Jr. and wife, Linda, of Sicily Island, Thomas Harper of Ferriday and Raymond Harper of Houston; two sisters, Melissa Baczewski of Pasadena, Texas, and Shelby Whisenhunt of Conroe, Texas; seven grandchildren, Danelle Boothe, April Sanders, Ronald Powers, Quentin Harper, Cecelia Harper, Aubrey Harper and Jasmine Lee; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jackie Harper Jr., Vance Richardson Sr., Vance Richardson Jr., Jacob Richardson, Jessie Lee and Jody Sanders.
