NATCHEZ— Graveside services for Thomas Nelson Sims Jr., 90, of Natchez, who died Friday, June 14, 2019, at his residence, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Natchez National Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Doug Broome officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Mr. Sims was born Nov. 20, 1928, in Bruce, the son of Thomas Nelson Sims Sr. and Clara Mae Terry.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army as was a Korean War veteran. He was a long-serving mason and was a member of the Wahabi Temple Potentate 2002, Wahabi Motor Corp and a member of the Shriners Dixie Shrine Association.
He was retired from Allied Systems as a terminal manager after decades of faithful service.
Sims was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Marion Francis Martin; and one brother, Marion Oliver “Billy” Martin.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Sims May of Tecumseh, Okla., and Linda Sims Clower of Jackson; five grandchildren, Daniel Adams and wife, Lori, of Bristol, Tenn., James May and Richard May of Tecumseh, Larry Presley and Emily Flaccomio of Natchez and Stephanie Carter and husband, Joey, of Jackson; and a number of great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
