VIDALIA— Services for Robert Earl Hunter, 91, of St. Joseph, who died Wednesday, June 19, 2019, in St. Joseph, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Young’s Funeral Home’s Vidalia Chapel with the Rev. Mark Whitney officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hunter was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Rayville, La., the son of Edward Hunter and Amelia Yount Hunter.
He was a resident of Natchez for 48 years before moving to St. Joseph. He was also a member of Hunter’s Chapel.
Hunter retired from the oil field as a driller with 41 years of service and was fondly known by his co-workers as “Cheese” and “Gold Tooth.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George, Marshall and James Hunter; and three sisters, Gracie Parker, Lucile Clay and Flossie Nugent.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Myrtie C. Hunter; one daughter, Stacy Hunter Barraza and husband, Donald, of St. Joseph; one son, Larry Dale Dickinson and wife, Gail, of Walker, La.; five granddaughters, Sallie Barraza, Brandy Dickinson and fiancé, Bill Dawson, Katie Ross and husband, Ben, Jenny Markey and husband, Keith, and Lacy Dickinson; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be John Cavin, Dan Cavin, John Hunter, Robbie Hunter, James Parker Jr., William Clay and Delbert Nugent.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Freeman, Tom Burkley and Charlie Blaney.
