NATCHEZ— Memorial services for Michael “Mike” Maurice Elliott, 71, of Natchez, who died peacefully in his sleep Saturday, May 25, 2019, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Linda Fox officiating.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.
A reception will be held following the services at the home of Philip and Stella
Carby, 211 S. Wall Street in Natchez.
Mr. Elliott was born Oct. 12, 1947, in Natchez, the son of Lowery and Luella Elliott.
Upon completion of high school, he served in the Navy. He then attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he studied engineering.Mike was employed with the U.S. Corp of Engineers where he worked a number of years before opening Hallelujah Ltd in the 70s. He later worked for Great River, Porter Paint and at Duncan Park.
Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and gardening (especially growing
tomatoes.) He had a passion for music and song writing. He could often be
found painting old furniture or duck decoys.
Elliott was preceded in death by his parents; onebrother, Lucien Elliott; and one sister, Gracie Fields.
Survivors include one sister, Anna Elliott of Natchez; one sister-in-Iaw, Ruth Elliott of Monroe, La.; one brother-in-Iaw, Michael Fields of Flowood; and a number of cousins and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society.
