Glad Buddy Poppy Day continues

Now that I’m in my 80’s, I have begun to recall more and more past days of events growing up in Natchez.
One of those events was “Buddy Poppy Day” when my Girl Scout Troop roamed the sidewalks of Main Street in our uniforms selling poppies.
Through the years, I’ve often wondered whatever happened to Buddy Poppy Day.
All business in Natchez seemed to take place on Main Street then where the sidewalks were crowded with businessmen who never passed by one of us without contributing for a poppy.
We thought they couldn’t resist us cute 10-year-old girls, but now I know the poppies haven’t been forgotten after Wednesday’s Top of the Morning.
I am so blessed to have experienced and still experience the thankfulness for the sacrifices made by the men and women of my hometown.
