NATCHEZ— Services for Willie Plummer, 96, of Natchez, who died Saturday, May 4, 2019, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Anthony C. Colenburg officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Curtis Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Mr. Plummer was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Natchez, the son of John and Louise Plummer.
He was a retired employee of Johns-Mansville in Natchez.
Plummer was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church and served as a class leader, steward, trustee and on the finance committee.
He enjoyed farming and gardening. He raised all kinds of fresh vegetables, especially mustard greens and collard greens.
Plummer was preceded in death by his parents; his ex-wife, Inez D. Plummer; one son, Ronald Ray Plummer; six sisters, Eveline Plummer, Nellie P. Gaylor, Lillie P. Owens, Mary Plummer, Louise P. Strickland and Carrie Whitehead; and four brothers, James Plummer, Charlie Plummer, Samuel Plummer and John Plummer Jr.
Survivors include four children, Carl Plummer and wife, Minell, and Sherryl P. Frisby and husband, Adrian, all of Natchez, Donald Plummer and wife, Annette, of Jackson and Doris Davis and husband, Hubert, of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Leroy Strickland, James Stewman, Sylvester Harris, Ronald West, Alvin Frisby and Darrius White.
