NATCHEZ— Services for Bonnie Hawes Garbutt, 72, of Brandon and formerly of Natchez, who died Friday, April 26, 2019, in Brandon, will be 11 a. m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Thomas Obrien officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Garbutt was born Nov. 30, 1946, in Glenmora, La., the daughter of Steve Poole and Sula Howard Poole.
She taught both high school and college students and was also a registered nurse. She left nursing for a few years to drive an 18-wheeler with her husband Edward.
Garbutt loved animals and shopping at Wal-mart and Amazon.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Edward Hawes and Raymond Garbutt; and one grandson, David Varnado.
Survivors include one son, Greg Hawes and wife, Janet; one daughter, Beth Peale and husband, Stephen; 13 grandchildren, Ariel Hawthorne, Tommy Varnado, Nickie Hawley, Joey Hawes, Mikey Varnado, Zack Hawes, Olivia Hawes, Shane and Sky Merritt, Connor Hawes, Ashley Hawes, Tori Anding and Avery Hawes; and seven great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her three dogs, Dolly, Coco and Bella.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Peale, Rickey Hawthorne, Zack Hawes, Joey Hawes, Bobby Allen and Barrett Aldridge.
Honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Varnado.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Natchez Adams County Humane Society.
