Pitch in to help keep Natchez clean

Spring is here and spring-cleaning is underway, not only in people’s personal houses, but also citywide.
A cleanup day for the City of Natchez is set for Saturday.
Residents who want to help clean up the city are encouraged to meet at 8 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park where city employees will hand out garbage bags and water bottles to volunteers.
The volunteers will then split in to groups to clean up different neighborhoods throughout the city until noon.
Once the clean up work is done, the volunteers will return to Memorial Park for food and drinks.
We encourage all able-bodied residents to participate in Saturday’s cleanup day activities to help keep Natchez beautiful.
In addition to Saturday’s cleanup day, city officials also are encouraging citizens to clean up their houses and yards all this week by trimming hedges and discarding of un-needed bulk items such as furniture and appliances.
Residents are asked to neatly stack such bulk items and trimmings on a corner in their neighborhood where the city’s garbage collection service will collect and haul it off this week.
We also encourage Natchez residents to take advantage of the curbside bulk pickup this week as well.
Also, check with elderly neighbors or neighbors who might need help getting such bulk items to the street corner and pitch in to give them a hand if necessary.
Clean up participants should call the Public Works department at 601-445-6652 to make arrangements.
Working together, we can keep Natchez clean and beautiful.
