LARTO, La. — Services for Emmett Ray Book Sr., 74, of Jonesville, who died Sunday, March 31, 2019, at his residence, will be noon today at Larto Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny Smith and the Rev. Juan McClure officiating.
Burial will follow at Pease Cemetery, in Larto, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Book was born April 11, 1944, in Ferriday, the son of Walter Edmond Book and Delia Ann Book.
Emmitt Ray was retired from the Catahoula Parish Police Jury where he served as secretary-treasurer for more than 20 years. He worked for a number of years at Catahoula Correctional Center as an administrative supervisor and continued to work there part-time in transportation when he retired. He was an avid golfer and won the Senior Golf Championship at LaSalle Country Club in 2017.
Book was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Elmo Paul, Nasif Book, W.A. Book, Laverne Book and Jimmie Book; four sisters, Ila White, Emma Louise Trisler, Ruthene Wiley and Ruby Lea Wiley; and three nephews, Bobby Wiley, Donnie Wiley and W.J. Book.
Survivors include one son, Emmett Ray Book Jr. and wife, Patricia Darlene Book, of Monterey, La.; one daughter, Jackie Owen and husband, Dustin, of Natchez; seven grandchildren, Courtney Mills, Travis Ray Book, Trenton Ford Book, Skylar Grace Owen, Jenneth Lynn Book, Codie Owen and Kalyn Owen; brother-in-law, Junior Trisler; two sisters-in-law, Dora Hamilton Book and Arlene LaPrarie Book; four great-grandchildren; and 34 loving nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Trisler, Bud Book, Kody Book, Travis Book, Trenton Book and Glenn LaPrarie.
Honorary pallbearers will be Emmett Ray’s golf buddies from LaSalle County Club and co-workers at Catahoula Correctional Center.
