Let’s roll up our sleeves and help make our county and city a clean town that we can be proud of.

The On-the-Move 4-H Club and Positive Action Ruritan Club are calling all churches, organizations, schools, homes and the general public to get active and get involved in our community.

Let’s help keep Adams County beautiful as we pick up litter, debris and leaves and then plant wild flowers, tulip bulbs and make pot container gardens.

The local effort is part of the Keep America Beautiful Great American Clean Up.

Every spring volunteers are mobilized to tackle eyesores and build a sense of pride and ownership of their local community environments.

Natchez-Adams County Clean Up campaign will be 8 a.m. Saturday all over Adams County and Natchez.

The Positive Action Ruritan Club and the On-the-Move 4-H Club have the privilege of being involved every year in this great event. We want to get children involved because we want to teach children the importance of preventing littering because littering is wrong.

In other 4-H Club news, the club:

* Conducted a workshop on “Wild Things” and did a black history program at Adams County and Glenburney nursing homes. We passed out soft peppermint candy bags.

* Tawania Baskins conducted an in-service on good hand washing techniques in which she passed out hand sanitizer.

* Debra J. Smith presented an in-service on communicating effectively with youths and adults.

* Cashea Coach conducted an arts and crafts program on melting down Crayons.

* Celebrated the Clover Campaign at Tractor Supply Company.

* Observed National 4-H Week by doing a program at WNAT/WTYJ Radio stations

* Adopted a grandparent for the club

* Made wreaths from hose pipes

* Toured NAPAC Museum

* Recruited new members

* Conducted a community awareness program

* Conducted a workshop on table manners

* Selected club officers: Racheal Wesley, president; Ciara Seals, vice president; Roquia Jackson, secretary; Ruth Wesley, assistant secretary; Tamia Johnson, parliamentarian; Ja’Colby Collins, song leader; and recreation leaders Ivori Shannon, Kallie Washington, Trayshon Jackson, Ja’Mya Lewis and Kyleigh Carter.

New members who joined the club are Mary Lyles, Nachel Shannon, Ivori Shannon, Kallie Washington, Ciara A. Seals and Anastacia Ellison.

At 8 a.m. Saturday, we are asking each family, club, church, business and organization to take pride in cleaning up your yard, roads, streets, parks and around dump sites.
