Green Wave beats Rams 19-1

WOODVILLE — Landon Lees, Hollis Lees and Sam Mosby combined to throw a one-hitter as the Cathedral High School Green Wave needed just four innings to defeat the Wilkinson County Christian Academy Rams 19-1 Monday afternoon.
Landon Lees got the start and pitched two innings of no-hit ball. He allowed no earned runs with four strikeouts and one hit batter. The one unearned run happened when Will Olive reached on an error and later scored for WCCA in the bottom of the second inning.
Hollis Lees pitched two-thirds of an inning, striking out one, walking one, hitting one batter, and giving up the Rams’ only base hit, a single by R.J. Fisher. Mosby pitched the final one and one-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one.
Cathedral scored three runs in the top of the first inning and one run in the top of the second before the Rams got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second. The Green Wave put the game away with eight runs in the top of the third inning and seven runs in the top of the fourth.
Ben Foster led the Green Wave’s 12-hit attack by going 3-for-3 with a double, two runs batted in and three runs scored. Noah Russ went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and one run scored while Mosby went 2-for-4 with one RBI and four runs scored.
Ronnie McMillan had a triple and drove in three runs while Hollis Lees and Ben White each had a double.
D’Mario Weathersby was charged with the loss after allowing seven runs, five earned, on six hits and one walk in two and one-third innings.
Cathedral (5-7) will play host to Porter’s Chapel Academy at 4:30 p.m. Thursday and WCCA at 7 p.m. Thursday for Senior Night at Chester Willis Field.
ACCS at Prairie View Academy canceled
BASTROP, La. — Adams County Christian School’s varsity doubleheader at Prairie View Academy that was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon has been cancelled for unknown reasons.
ACCS (6-5, 0-3) doesn’t hit the field again until Tuesday, April 2 when hosts MAIS District 5-AAA opponent Central Private School with the JV game at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.
