NATCHEZ — Services for Willie James Wimbley, 92, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Guice Jr. officiating.
Burial will be Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Wimbley was born on Jan. 1, 1927, in Natchez, the son of Charlie Wimbley and Virginia Stokes Wimbley.
He was a graduate of Brumfield High School and a member of LaGrange Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and gardening.
Wimbley was preceded in death by his wife, Hannah V. Wimbley; his parents; five brothers, George, Charles, Phillip, Henry, and David; two sisters-in-law: Mary Wimbley and Emma Wimbley; son-in-law, Ventress McCallum; two nephews, Phillip James and Jessie Gary Wimbley; and grandparents, Tom and Fannie Wimbley.
Survivors include three sons, Willie Wimbley Jr. and wife, Linda, Dale Wimbley and wife, Maxine, and Charles J. Wimbley and wife, Emma Jean; five daughters, Ruby Wimbley, Donna McCallum, Geraldine Williams and husband, Dan Jr., Joan Wimbley and Amelia White and companion, Greg Johnson; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Clayton Williams, Rachard Williams, Kejuan Saul, William Earl Wimbley, Phillip Bradley and Jessie Hunt Jr.
