NATCHEZ — Services for Bonnie Erie Holland Byrd, 85, of Meadville, who died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at McNeely Road Church of God, in Natchez, with the Rev. Brian Monehan and Kelcie Messer Henderson officiating.
Burial will follow at Byrd’s Cemetery in Meadville under the direction of Riverwood Family Funeral Services in Brookhaven.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday, both at the church.
Mrs. Byrd was born Jan. 14, 1934, the daughter of Monroe and Gertrude Holland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Paul Holland, Arlis Holland and wife, Artie, and Bernard Holland and wife Jo Riece; and three sisters, Lillian Pittman and husband, William, Itasca Brumfield and husband, Randall, and Clara Browning and husband, Lester.
Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, John Lloyd Byrd; three sons, Bill Byrd and wife, Linda, of Shreveport, La., Bob Byrd and wife, Susan, of Hope Mills, N.C., and Ken Byrd and wife, Debbie, of Fort Worth, Texas; seven grandchildren, Ashley Thibodeaux, Danielle Kozikowski and husband, Stephen, Michelle Snyder and husband, Corey, Arielle Hughes and husband, Cody, Zack Byrd, David Byrd and wife, Katherine, and Daniel Byrd and wife, Katherine; two sisters, Opal Messer of Natchez and Brenda Williams of Meadville; sister-in-law, Ruth Holland of Natchez; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; and close special friends, Benny and Betty Gorum.
Pallbearers will be David Byrd, Daniel Byrd, Charles Stroup, Michael Messer, Frank Holland and Luke Brumfield.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the Smokey Mountain Children’s Home at 800-654-1622 (smch.org/donate) or to a charity of choice.
