Coming to Greg Iles book signing at Edelweiss for a good cause
Published 12:30 am Wednesday, February 27, 2019
Please join Greg Iles and Natchez Community Stewpot volunteers from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Edelweiss, 209 S. Broadway St., Natchez.
Iles will be signing his newest book, “Cemetery Road,” at his family’s lovely home, Edelweiss, overlooking the Mississippi River while volunteers will be serving afternoon sweet and savory treats along with a cash bar.
YZ Ealey and Casey Gilbert will provide musical entertainment. All money raised at the event will help the Stewpot provide daily meals to hundreds of local friends and neighbors.
I began volunteering at the Stewpot last year, helping deliver meals for the elderly, handicapped and shut-ins of our community.
The Stewpot opened its doors in 1984 and for the past 35 years many area citizens, churches, businesses and service organizations have worked tirelessly to ensure that the Stewpot continues to be an integral part of our community.
Over 300 meals are served every day of the year. I have gotten to know many of the men and women along the “B route,” and although the time spent with each of them is short, I have learned much from these humble souls. We all rise by lifting others.
Thank you to Greg Iles for donating his time and efforts to help continue this vital ministry in our community. Greg has drawn so much attention to our city and area. Many readers from all over the country and the world travel to Natchez to see where Penn Cage and his family, friends and foes “live.”
Cemetery Road has new characters and a new setting, but I doubt that will stem the tide of Greg’s fans.
Please join us on Saturday for a fun afternoon. Have a drink and a snack, add to your Greg Iles’ library of signed First Editions and help the Natchez Community Stewpot continue to lift others.
