Join us for March 16 survivor’s tea

God’s Angelic Warriors Cancer Support Group will host its annual Survivor’s Tea at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, 56 Parker Street, Natchez.
The tea is a fundraiser for God’s Angelic Warriors with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society’s relay event that will be held May 4 at the Concordia Recreational Facility.
The tea was the idea of two warriors with breast cancer, Eddie Bell Fleming and me, Lillian Clark Edney. Since Fleming’s passing, members of the support group and I have carried the torch and continued this annual event.
At the tea, guests receive updated information on breast cancer, hear testimonies from survivors, enjoy refreshments, listen to entertainment and receive prizes. This year’s speaker is Evangelist Hollie B. Davis, a breast cancer survivor.
Please make all donations payable to The American Cancer Society. Donations will be accepted before the tea and at the door. Your donations are tax deductible, and we thank you in advance for assisting our effort to shine a light on this dreaded disease as well as efforts to find a cure for a disease that has affected so many households.
The co-founders of God’s Angelic Warriors are Demetria Reed and Evelyn H. Smith. The support group has been meeting to support cancer survivors since 1997. Our quarterly group meetings are held at Zion Chapel AME Church. If you are a cancer survivor and are interested in joining the support group, please contact me at 601-442-4172.
We also want to thank Pastor Wilsonni Johnson and the St. Peter Baptist Church membership for their continued support. They have opened their doors for our tea for over 15 years. Come and join the warriors at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 16.
