COSBY, Tenn. — A celebration of life for Margaret Priscilla “Prissy” Huff Smith, of Cosby, Tenn., formerly of Natchez, who died Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at her residence, were Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at Trinity Baptist Church, 1995 Hartford Road, Cosby, TN 37722, with the Rev. Randy Forbes officiating.
Margaret, or “Prissy” as she was known to family, grew up in the Kingston community. She was an excellent student with a vivid imagination, often entertaining all with her stories and colorful illustrations. Her love of English and literature led her to become a teacher.
After graduating from Natchez High School, Prissy continued her education at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez, earning an associate degree and going on to Delta State University earning a bachelor of arts degree.
Her teaching career included Huntington in Ferriday, Natchez High School, Natchez Alternative School and Cosby High School. She also sponsored a trip to England that included a number of her students. While living in Huntsville, Ala., she was employed by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA.)
Prissy was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin F. “Buddy” Huff and Lillian Doris “Dotty” Stewart Huff; one brother, Vernon Terrell “Terry” Huff; paternal grandparents, Albert Fletcher Huff and Martha Suzanne Westbrook Huff; maternal grandparents, Clifton Stewart Sr. and Margaret Ola Stewart King, for whom she is named.
Survivors include three children, Jeremy Westbrook Wallace and Katy Elise Huff, both of Cosby, and Sarah Breanne Sims and husband, Brad, and their children, Riley and Eleanor Sims, all of Huntsville, Ala.; three siblings, John Huff and wife, Beate, of Cosby, Patricia Cater and husband, Howard, and Cissy Wisner and husband, Jeff, all of Natchez; sister-in-law, Brenda McCombs Huff of Natchez; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins who blessed Prissy’s life richly; and the Hollowell family who she considered her extended family.
Prissy donated her body to the University of Tennessee Forensic and Anthropology Center in Knoxville, Tenn., Military and Law Enforcement Biometric Study.
