Natchez-native and lifelong resident, Jennifer “Lady J” Minor Johnson has declared her candidacy for Adams County Circuit Clerk.
In making the announcement Johnson said she has always wanted and worked for positive change in Natchez and Adams County.
“I have worked to serve the public as a radio announcer for over 25 years,” Johnson said. “I rendered service in the Circuit Clerk’s office as a clerk, a volunteer baseball and basketball coach, and I am actively involved in political action in our community. My family and I now feel that the time is right to put my vision into action and do more to serve our community.”
Johnson said that if elected she would be a dedicated public servant.
“As circuit clerk I will be the custodian for all things historically sacred, by making sure to preserve the history of documents entrusted to the circuit clerk’s office from safety hazards, such as fire and water damage,” Johnson said.
If elected, Johnson said she would help educate voters.
“I have always been concerned about voter education,” Johnson said. “I believe that there are better ways to service the voter, while educating all of the voting process. The circuit clerk’s office is of the utmost importance to me. Therefore, I will treat all the utmost importance. I am compassionate, devoted, friendly, sincere and knowledgeable of the office. And I will bring care, forward movement, professional excellence and unity.”
“I humbly ask for your prayers, support and votes on Aug. 6,” Johnson said. “The right person, at the right time for the right reason.”
