The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a tornado watch until 6 p.m. for following areas in Southwest Mississippi:

• Adams County
• Franklin County
• Lincoln County
• Warren County
• Jefferson County
• Claiborne County
• Wilkinson County
• Amite County
• Copiah County
• Pike County

A tornado watch is issued when conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes in and close to the watch area.  During the watch, people should review tornado safety rules and be prepared to move to a place of safety if threatening weather approaches.
