CANNONSBURG — Jefferson County Sheriff’s officials have arrested a suspect in an early Sunday morning fatal shooting in the Cannonsburg community.

Jefferson County Sheriff Peter Walker said deputies arrested Larry Griffin Jr., 27, of Cannonsburg Road, Natchez, Tuesday evening and charged him with the murder of Roderick Delmar McKnight, 40, of Cannonsburg.

Walker said his office received a telephone call early Sunday morning reporting that a person appeared to be deceased in a vehicle at Cannonsburg Park.

“We found out that another person was at a Vicksburg hospital with a gunshot,” Walker said, adding further investigation revealed Griffin to be the other gunshot victim.

“There had been a dispute between the two earlier,” Walker said.

Griffin is being held in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond, Walker said.
