Way to go, ACCS football champions!

If the Adams County Christian School football team were looking for a theme song this year, the 1997 pop hit “Tubthumping” by the group Chumbawamba would certainly be fitting.
The song includes a heavily repeated lyric: “I get knocked down, but I get up again. You’re never gonna keep me down.”
And that was certainly the theme of this year’s ACCS Rebels’ year.
After starting the year 8-0, a technicality of sorts involving a player who transferred to the school resulted in seven of those wins being stripped.
Such a blow in the middle of the season might have been too much for most teams, but ACCS bolstered itself and proceeded to win the next five games.
Earlier this month, ACCS claimed the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools’ Class AAA State Championship.
The title was only the second in the school’s history and the first since 1982.
The ACCS team, its coaching staff, players, student body and fans are all to be congratulated for the great comeback.
As ACCS alum and head football coach David King said after the win, “At the end of the day, it was just a great night for Natchez.”
It’s a great night anytime a local school wins, brings a positive spotlight to our area and all the players go home safely.
Congratulations, ACCS! The title was hard fought, but well deserved.
