NATCHEZ — A 15-year-old is charged with burglary and malicious mischief after police said they identified him through security camera footage that captured him throwing a brick through a glass door of a Regions Bank branch on Sunday.
Capt. Scott Frye said the juvenile, who recently moved to Natchez and whose name was withheld because he is a juvenile, was identified through still photos from the security systems of Regions Bank on 265 D’Evereux Drive.
“He did not get anything,” Frye said. “We do have a video they’re getting for us. They sent stills to identify him and it showed him rummaging through the (bank teller) drawers and nothing was taken that we’re aware of.”
Frye said the juvenile used a brick to break one of the glass door panels and then unlocked the door.
Frye said police responded to an alarm at Regions at approximately 7:30 a.m. Sunday. Frye said an alert officer combed the area surrounding the bank and spotted the suspect on Dumas Drive. Frye said the juvenile was taken into custody within 90 minutes of the burglary and that charges will be handled through the Adams County Youth Court.
