Elections behind us — almost

Published 11:49 pm Monday, November 12, 2018

The good news is, Adams County voters turned out in record numbers for last Tuesday’s General Election.

The bad news is, a couple of races are still undecided, and runoffs will be held on Nov. 27 for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Thad Cochran and a judge seat on the Court of Appeals District 4.

If you haven’t already made up your mind between the candidates in those two runoffs, please study up on the candidates and the issues and be prepared to go to the polls Nov. 27 to cast your votes in these important final races for 2018.

Once those races are behind us that will, indeed, be good news.

Here is a look at some of the other good news items from the past week in the Miss-Lou:

On Wednesday, the Grand Village of Natchez Indians hosted the 31st Annual Student Days and students from schools throughout the region, including schools from Jackson, New Iberia, Louisiana, and Natchez attended.

The annual event not only is a great way to teach students about Native Americans of Mississippi, history and the diversity of the state, it also is great exposure for Natchez and Adams County.

On Sunday, the nation and the Miss-Lou honored the veterans of all branches of the United Armed Forces.

One day set aside to honor veterans and thank them for their service does not seems sufficient to repay the debt we owe veterans for their sacrifices to our nation.

It is, however, a nice gesture and an important reminder of the debt we owe our veterans.

Thank you, veterans, for your service.
