FERRIDAY — Two of three suspects in a Wednesday afternoon armed robbery were in custody shortly after the incident, but the other one was on the loose late Wednesday, authorities said.
Commander John Cowan of the special operations group for Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office said law enforcement agencies responded after eyewitness reports of an armed robbery at Security Finance.
Ferriday Police Chief Investigator Richard Madison said police received a call of an armed robbery at 1:25 p.m.
Cowan said Cedric Davis, a suspect in the armed robbery, was found hiding in the woods and placed under arrest and that prior to Davis’ arrest, Taire Nelson and Maurice Gibson were arrested for accessory after the fact.
“They were looking to go collect Davis and allow him to leave the area,” Cowan said. “Shortly after that a John Dillard (another suspect in the armed robbery) was found walking across a field close to Highway 65 north of Clayton and also placed under arrest.”
Cowan said a third suspect in the armed robbery, Phil Wilson II, was at large.
Cowan said the amount of money taken is unknown. He said all three of the men are believed to have been armed and to have taken part in the robbery. Cowan said no firearms were discovered.
Concordia Parish Chief Deputy David Hedrick said he appreciates help in the case.
“I’m very thankful to the Vidalia, Clayton and Ferriday police, sheriff’s deputies, wildlife and fisheries for exposing themselves to danger to assist us in arresting the suspects,” Hedrick said. “I also appreciate the people in the community who assisted.”
