NATCHEZ — Two Adams County men were arrested Wednesday night after they were shot at in what police dubbed a “lovers’ quarrel” earlier in the evening.

One of the two men was out of jail on a court-ordered release in the shooting of his brother, authorities said.

Natchez police arrested Jerald Andre Woods, 29, and Devron Deshon Green, 24, were charged with possession of marijuana while in possession of firearms — a .25-caliber Beretta pistol and a .22-caliber revolver.

The arrests were made at approximately 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of George F. West Sr. Boulevard and Watkins Street. Officers identified a blue Ford Sapphire, which was driven by Woods, as one of the cars associated in the drive-by shooting.

The arrests came approximately one hour after Green and Woods were fired upon in the 600 block of Stiers Lane, said Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong.

Armstrong said neither Green nor Woods were injured. Armstrong also said the men were visiting a female that was also on the scene, but was unharmed.

“They were the victims,” Armstrong said. “They were being fired upon by another individual that we are not going to reveal at the moment. This was a domestic situation, a lovers’ quarrel if you will, between another party.”

Armstrong said it is undetermined whether Green or Woods fired back, but said they fled the scene.

“Green and Woods were at the residence of the female in question when the suspect came by and shot at them, and that’s when they left the premises at a high rate of speed,” Armstrong said.

Armstrong said a red Camaro that had a window busted out Wednesday night has not been connected to the incident.

“We have not tied it into what I’m talking about,” Armstrong said.

Armstrong said investigations are ongoing and another arrest is expected.

“We are where we need to be in terms of this arrest. We are good with that; we’re just not releasing the name of anyone else who will be arrested.

Green was arrested Sept. 18 for the attempted murder of his brother, Raymond Fleming, 30. Fleming was shot three or more times and rushed to intensive care at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Green, who is confined to a wheelchair, was released Oct. 2 on a court ordered medical recognizance bond that did not require him to post cash for his $100,000 bond, authorities said.
