What the world needs now is love

Last Saturday I watched the group on MLK Street marching for “Stop The Violence.”

This was a show of concern for the shootings that have taken place throughout our city.

An apparent disregard for the sanctity of human life has encroached into our society, and it is happening all over our country — a total breakdown of human values that Satan himself must be rejoicing over.

In  Matthew 22:34-39  a lawyer asked Jesus this question, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”

To which Jesus replied, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment.  The second is like it.  ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”

It is time that more effort and groups step forward to curb the violence that has plagued our city.

Law enforcement can only do so much and they need support from all of our citizens.

The Apostle Paul said it best in 1 Corinthians Chapter 13, known as the love chapter on the excellence of love.

He wrote that we can be  everything and have everything but without love it is nothing. He ends with now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

We need a touch from God with these words:

“Sounds of laughter from young and old

Tell the story of a true soul

Words too often hard to find

To truly express what’s on one’s mind

Often times we forget so much

When really we only need a touch

Is it so hard to show love?

When we’ve been taught from above

To love thy neighbor as thyself

For without love what is left”
