Do you know who the people of the Bambara Nation are and how they relate to the Natchez Massacre? Why do Issac Franklin and John Armfield of Virginia have significance for Natchez history? Who is the only person in the Natchez City Cemetery to have a bronze bust on his tombstone?

If no is the answer to any or all of those questions and you have “An Inquiring mind that wants to know, ” please join the Natchez Historical Society on Tuesday evening for an interesting and informative program

Our speaker will be Jeremy Houston, founder and owner of the Miss Lou Heritage Group and Tours.  His presentation is titled “How Well Do You Know the Black History of Natchez?”

After his discharge, he chaired the National Black United Front and has been active in both Natchez Museum of African American History and the Forks of the Road Society.

He founded the Miss Lou Heritage Group and Tours LLC in 2016 and works as a guide/advisor for various groups including Natchez Pilgrimage Tours and the City Sightseeing Bus.

The mission of the Heritage Tours is to “explain, enrich and empower individuals from all walks of life on the astonishing history and accomplishments of people of African descent in Natchez and the surrounding areas.”

We will meet at the Historic Natchez Society Foundation, 108 South Commerce Street. Social hour refreshments will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the program to follow at 7 p.m. As always, the event is free and open to the public.

The mission of the Historic Natchez Society is to assist in the preservation of the rich history of Natchez and Adams County, including the collection and dissemination of historical material.
