NATCHEZ — Services for Dorothy Lillian Davis, 89, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cliff Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Wilkerson and the Rev. Russell Wagoner officiating.
Burial will follow at the Davis Family Cemetery, in Franklin County, under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Saturday until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Davis was born March 17, 1929, in Monroe, La., the daughter of B.F. Alexander and Gertrude Frye Alexander.
She loved working in her yard. She built and ran the Second Creek Grocery. She loved the Lord and raised her children up to believe in the Bible.
Davis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther Davis; one grandson, Mike Weathersby; and one great-grandchild, Gabe Cupit.
Survivors include three daughters, Jean McDaniel of Natchez, Faye Fuqua and husband, Danny, of Pleasant Plains, Ohio, and Pat Lee of Roxie; two sons, Raymond Davis and wife, Glenda, and Malcolm Davis and wife, Sandra, all of Natchez; 15 grandchildren, Krys Freeman and husband, Travis, Preston Fuqua and wife, Jennifer, Candy Houston and husband, Scott, Todd Fuqua, LaToya Kennedy and husband, Josh, Melissa Hinshaw and husband, Jeff, Tracy McCue and husband, Shane, Susan Jackson and husband John, Sabrina Bland and husband, Jay, Kim Emfinger, Andrew Davis and wife, Rachel, Joey Cupit, Jesse Cupit, Sarah Brumfield and husband, Buck, and Douglas Davis and wife, Shari; 48 great-grandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Freeman, Colton Weathersby, Douglas Davis, Kristopher Emfinger, Andrew Davis and John Jackson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Todd Fuqua, Preston Fuqua, Scott Houston, Buck Brumfield and Joey Cupit.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cliff Temple Baptist Church or Pleasant Acres School.
