VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say FBI agents caught a Mississippi bank robber who was driving a stolen van.
The Vicksburg Post reports 42-year-old Michael Gammill was arrested Tuesday and charged with armed robbery and auto theft. Vicksburg police say Gammill was arrested after FBI agents assisting in the case spotted him at an auto parts store in a van stolen the day before. The FBI agents called police and detained Gammill.
Vicksburg Police Lt. Johnnie Edwards says most of the stolen cash was found in the van. But some was found after a man told authorities someone had bought his truck with all cash, left without the vehicle and didn’t return. Authorities say the truck wasn’t working, so Gammill had stopped at the auto store to get parts to fix it.
It’s unclear if Gammill has a lawyer.
