TAYLORSVILLE, Miss. (AP) — A judge has set bond for a man charged with killing a 2-year-old child in central Mississippi.
News outlets report that 48-year-old Allen Gray of Taylorsville made his initial court appearance Wednesday, and Judge Hulon West set bond at $700,000.
It was not immediately clear whether Gray is represented by an attorney.
Smith County Sheriff Charlie Crumpton says the toddler was injured Saturday, and Gray was arrested that day and charged with aggravated assault.
After the child died Tuesday, the charge was upgraded to murder. The child’s name was not immediately released.
