WACO, Texas — A Mississippi-based Dixie Youth 12U baseball team won its first game of their Southwest Regional Tournament Thursday in Waco, Texas.

The team representing Mississippi is from Franklin County and defeated Colorado Thursday, 15-10.

Mississippi registered 13 hits in the win. Hayden Zimmerman ended the game with three hits and four RBIs. Noah McCormick had three hits and three RBIs of his own.

Mississippi advances the winner’s bracket of the eight-team tournament and will play again at 8 p.m. Saturday against the winner of Texas East and Arkansas.
