George Long 

July 27, 1935 – June 25, 2018

VIDALIA — George Long, 82, of Vidalia, who died Monday, June 25, 2018, in Vidalia, will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Union Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Jarrod Bottley officiating.

Burial will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and will continue Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

Mr. Long was born July 27, 1935, in Wisner, La., the son of Luvear Long and Teresa Washington Bowie.

He was a member of Union Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting.

Mr. Long was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Long; one brother, Bennie Lee; and grandparents, Peter and Laura Long, George Washington and Mary Washington.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Long; six sons, Larry Long and wife, Carolyn, Jerry Long and wife, Cheryl, George Long and wife, Lyvette, Theron Long, Lakendrick Smith and Torrey Smith; three daughters, Kathy Long, Jacqueline Jenkins and Sandra Simons; four brothers, Albert Bowie and wife, Alma, Timmy Bowie and wife, Dorothy, Perry Long Singleton and Henry Bowie; one sister, Lula Carthan; four sisters-in-law, Leatrice Dickens and husband, Reggie   Ollie Washington and husband, Huey, Mary Smith and Jacqueline Smith; stepmother, Frankie Long; daughter-in-law, Debra Long Harris; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
