NATCHEZ — Adams County supervisors accepted six proposals Monday for the county’s waste collection contract.

The proposals came from Waste Management, Waste Pro, Metro Service Group, Arrow Disposal Service Inc., Hometown Waste LLC. and United Waste Services, said board attorney Scott Slover.

The proposals, Slover said, include not just base prices but also other contingencies.

“We wanted them to feel confident and comfortable with the overall pricing,” Slover said of the bidding process, in which companies proposed a flat fee, modified by specific options, such as business and residential pick-up, dumpsters and household containers, etc. “Some are just flat, X amounts of dollars per unit.”

The county’s current waste collection contract with Waste Pro does not end until November, but Slover said the county wanted to go ahead and get the proposals in so they would have time to study them and make the best choice.

Slover also said the county has been satisfied with the service provided by Waste Pro, but the contract period was up, and it was time to renew.

The new contract will begin in December.

“Really, the focus of the county administrator (this time of year) should be to spend time on the budget to make sure the money goes where it needs to,” Slover said. “We are happy where we are at with the RFP process.”

Below are the base line proposals submitted to the Adams County Board of Supervisors on Monday:

  • United Waste Services: Twice-a-week residential collection $12.99 per residential unit per month
  • Metro Serv. Group: Twice-a-week residential collection $9.84 per residential unit per month
  • Hometown Waste: Twice-a-week residential collection $9.89 per residential unit per month
  • Waste Pro: Twice-a-week residential collection $10.62 per residential unit per month
  • Waste Management: Twice-a-week residential collection contract for six years $6,741,252 flat rate.  (at 5,531 units collected that would equate to $16.93 per residential unit per month).
  • ADSI (Arrow): Twice-a-week pickup $13.50 per residential unit per month.
