NATCHEZ — A routine traffic stop Monday led deputies to arrest three people and confiscate a quantity of drugs.

Adams County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Cal Green said deputies were patrolling the area of Liberty Road when they noticed a car full of people parked at a gas station for several minutes without anyone entering or exiting the vehicle.

When the deputy pulled into the parking lot, the vehicle — a red Lincoln — exited the parking lot and drove away, she said.

The deputy then saw the vehicle parked at another gas station on Morgantown Road, again without anyone entering or exiting the vehicle, so Green said the deputy pulled into the gas station.

When the red Lincoln exited the gas station immediately again, Green said the deputy deemed the activity suspicious and pulled the car over.

A K-9 officer’s dog indicated that there were drugs in the vehicle, and upon a search deputies and said they found two meth pipes, an unused syringe, digital scales, three dosage units of hydrocodone, 15 dosage units of suboxone and 20 dosage units of alprazolam.

Green said no one in the vehicle would claim ownership of the drugs, so all three people were arrested on drug charges.

Deputies arrested Aron Cade Cloy, 32, 42 Newman Road; Natasha Ferrell Kennedy, 40, 106 Troy Road, Waterproof; and Quentin Maurice Smith, 41, 22 Myrtle Drive, Fayette, on charges of possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a schedule III controlled substance with intent to sell or distribute, possession of a schedule IV drug substance with intent to sell or distribute and possession of paraphernalia.

The high number of dosage units of alprazolam and suboxone, Green said, makes those two charges felony-level offenses.

All three people were in the Adams County Jail with no bond set Monday afternoon.
