KINDER, La. — A day after falling 11-1 to No. 1 seed Kinder High School, the Vidalia High School baseball team looked to regroup and force a Game 3.
But unlike their last series, the Vikings never saw Game 3 as they watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 7-0 loss to Kinder.
Kinder’s starting pitcher Conner Fawcett allowed only two hits while throwing just 42 pitches in four innings pitched. Not only did Fawcett get the win, but he also recorded two RBIs on Saturday as well. Elijah Lavan also knocked in two RBIs for Kinder.
Peyton Fort got the start on the mound for the Vikings, and the Yellow Jackets jumped on him early. Kinder scored three runs in the first inning thanks to a walk by Lavan and a sacfrice fly by Fawcett.
Fort allowed all seven runs (four earned) on eight hits and four walks on only three strikeouts in six innings of work.
With the loss, the Vikings’ season comes to a close in the quarterfinals of the LHSAA Class 2A Baseball State Playoffs. Vidalia finishes the year with an overall record of 23-13.
