NATCHEZ — Natchez police say Bryson Wallace killed a man for $4.
Officers arrested Bryson Maurico Wallace, 21, no address given, just before 3 p.m. Wednesday on charges of first-degree murder in the April 27 death of Cedric Anderson.
Police officers found Anderson sprawled on his back on the pavement near the intersection of Brenham and Minor streets.
He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, Adams County Coroner James Lee said, but the bullet that apparently killed him tore through his chest.
When officers arrived on scene approximately 1:20 a.m. Friday, Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said, witnesses said Anderson and Wallace were arguing earlier that night.
Further investigation, Armstrong said, indicates that the verbal altercation led to the shooting.
The fight, he said, was over money.
“It was less than $5,” Armstrong said.
Wallace is currently being held in the Adams County Jail with no bond set.
Armstrong said he wanted to thank the public for their tips and calls about the case.
“The public has been a big help in many cases and that certainly includes this one,” Armstrong said.
Anderson’s death was the second of three murders in the city limits this year.
