Delta Charter School’s Trenton Miller and Michael Brown might play on opposite fields, but they are now headed to the same place.

Miller, a baseball player, and Brown, a soccer player, both signed their National Letter of Intent Wednesday to Louisiana College.

For the duo, playing sports in college has always been at the top of the list.

“I’ve played most of my life,” Brown said. “A couple weeks ago I released a (highlight) tape, I got an email and it kind of took off from there.

“It’s always been my dream, but I just never really had that much exposure until now.”

Miller said the day felt like a big weight off his shoulders.

“It feels like I accomplished what I’ve been trying to get to my whole life,” he said. “I was really excited about going, and as soon as found out he was going too, I got even more excited.”

Both members of the Storm said they feel quite welcome as they prepare to join the Wildcats.

“The coaches have said how they are excited for me to get to work and compete for a spot,” Brown said.

Brown said he is expected to play goalie, the position he excelled at during high school.

For Miller, any spot is a good spot.

“I’m just excited for the chance to play,” he said. “They said they are going to let me look between third base and left field. It just depends where they need me.”

Besides athletics, both Brown and Miller said they are looking forward to college in general, including choosing a major.

“I’m back and forth between psychology and engineering right now,” Brown said. “I’m not for sure yet. It’s not decided.”

Miller is a little more sure, and hopes Brown can join him in his studies.

“Psychology,” he said. “Especially if he majors in that, too, you already know we will be at each other’s houses.”

Whatever the choice, the pair is eager to continue their friendship on the next level.

“It’s great to have him,” Brown said. “Especially coming from a small school where we know everybody.”
